Funders First, Inc. is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to provide equal access to all users.
Accessibility Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and more usable for everyone.
Measures We Take
- Include accessibility as part of our mission and development process
- Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices
- Provide ongoing accessibility training for our staff
- Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities
- Conduct regular accessibility assessments
Accessibility Features
Navigation
- Consistent navigation throughout the site
- Clear page titles and heading structure
- Logical tab order for interactive elements
- Visible focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields
Motion and Animation
- Reduced motion is respected site-wide. If your device is set to reduce motion, our scroll-driven animations, transitions, and video sequences are disabled or simplified automatically
- No content flashes more than three times per second
- No animation is required to understand or complete any task
Visual Design
- Sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds
- Text can be resized without loss of functionality
- Information is not conveyed by color alone
- Layouts reflow for small screens and zoomed viewports
Touch and Pointer
- Interactive controls meet a minimum 44×44 pixel touch target on phones
- Safe-area insets are respected so controls are never hidden behind device hardware
- All functionality is available via keyboard
Content and Forms
- Alternative text for meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from screen readers
- Descriptive link text
- Form fields with associated labels and required-field indication
- Error messages that identify the issue and suggest a correction
- Clear, plain language wherever possible
Assistive Technologies
Our website is designed to be compatible with:
- Screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
Known Limitations
While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, some content has limitations we are actively working on:
- Motion-led sections: parts of our site use scroll-driven animation to tell the story. Reduced-motion settings are honored, but if any section is difficult to use, contact us and we will provide the same information in a plain format.
- PDF documents: some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate these files — contact us if you need an accessible version of any document.
- Third-party content: some third-party tools and embedded content may not fully meet accessibility standards. We work with vendors who share our commitment to accessibility.
- Video content: we are working to add captions and transcripts to all video content. Our current site videos are decorative and carry no spoken information.
